Gauchito Gil’s Malbec Tour is expanding in 2019!

Our little Malbec event keeps growing and growing…

Australia’s biggest celebration of malbec returns to Melbourne, Sydney and, for the first time, Brisbane in 2019… hold on to your camperos, amigos. This year is going to be big.

Gauchito Gil was Argentina’s answer to Robin Hood, in that he spent his time relieving the rich of their possessions and, err, redistributing them among the disadvantaged. Gil liked the good things in life, and it’s to his memory that this festival – a celebration of not just malbec but also tango, empanadas and all things Argentinean – is dedicated.

Every year, this event surprises us by how much it continues to grow. We had over 900 through the doors at Sydney’s 2018 event, and even more on the wait list. Melbourne 2018 saw over 700 – enough to open and use both halves of North Melbourne’s Meat Market.

All this for a malbec event.

Do not underestimate just how much Australia gets behind Gauchito Gil’s Malbec Day. We certainly don’t, and we’re adding another session to Sydney and taking this caballada north to Brisbane for the first time to prove it.

You in?

WHY MALBEC DAY?

Because this is THE Malbec event. It gives you access to a highly engaged, new, young wine audience all keen and motivated to get to know you and your wines.

Like other REVEL events, Gauchito Gil’s Malbec Day is a great opportunity to get your brand out there, a chance to sign people up to your mailing list, to build direct customer relationships and make sales. It’s a no brainer, really.

And, a reminder: We take NO COMMISSION ON SALES.

Enough, I'm in!

BRISBANE

Light Space, Fortitude Valley

Of all Australia’s capital cities, Brisbane is the one which consistently performs in terms of ticket sales. Its residents are thirsty for events such as these, and we know that they’re going to get behind malbec in the same way they get behind pinot noir.

Light Space in Fortitude Valley is a beautiful venue, and one that’s perfectly suited to this event. We’re really excited to be finally taking Gauchito Gil north to Brisbane, and we know the city will be just as excited to meet him.

April 7 (Sunday)

11am till 3pm
If this event sells out enough in advance, we’ll look to adding an afternoon session which will run from 4pm till 8pm.

400 + pax (or 800 if two sessions)

MELBOURNE

Meat Market, North Melbourne

Melbourne’s event, which began life as a small, 250-person gathering at Ormond Hall in St Kilda, has grown year on year to become the 700+ person party it was in 2018, and we just know those trends are going to continue in 2019.

Melbourne’s event is home to the GOLDEN EMPANADA competition, which sees five of the city’s best restaurants battle it out for the title. We have a stage set for tango. Attendees are primed for a bit of healthy competition, so you just know they’re going to go hard voting in the People’s Choice.

It’s fun, it’s big, it’s a real celebration of all things Argentina. You don’t want to miss this one.

April 13 (Saturday)

12pm till 5pm

750 + pax

SYDNEY

Blacksmith’s Workshop, Carriageworks, 245 Wilson Street, Eveleigh

Sydney 2018 pulled the largest crowd we’ve seen for a Gauchito Gil event, with almost 1000 Malbec fans through the door. We’re confident (and the waitlist will attest to the fact) that we could have sold twice as many tickets as we did; however, having the right punter-to-producer ratio is a priority for us so we were forced to cap the numbers.

Even so, we probably stretched ticket numbers a bit too far (!) so in 2019 we’re offering two sessions and capping the numbers at 700 per session to ensure there’s enough malbec for everyone.

Bring it on!

April 14 (Sunday)

11am till 3pm & 4pm till 8pm

 1400 + pax

(2 x 700 pax)

Wine and pastry. What's not to celebrate?

MARKETING & PROMOTION

Since the first REVEL (then Bottle Shop Concepts!) event in 2012, we have been focused on growing and engaging a new wine audience. Our brand awareness, combined with our database, strong PR pushes, social strategies (which includes Instagram stories and IGTV, for example) and digital agency mean we’re ready to double down and go even harder this year.

In 2019, we’re going all in on content which will run outside our regular ‘event season’. Working alongside individual wine brands and regional and state-based organisations will be critical.

With our content being shared across six countries (including being translated into Japanese and Cantonese), our audience and influence is only going to grow.

We want to talk about you and why you do what you do which is why your input is critical.

We’ve also put together a detailed Social Media Cheat Sheet which will have various images (in various size formats), suggested copy and other marketing collateral to help you further spread the vinous word from your end. We know you’re time poor so we’re here to make it easy.

Below are some insights into our marketing reach from all our 2018 events.
